Herr Doktor miis Büsi...
Johannes Kaufmann's stories are true. He writes about the emotionality of pet owners and animals – on the "Theaterbühne Sprechstunde" (Theater Stage Consultation Hour). The table in the consulting room resembles a stage: drama unfolds there, both humorous and sad. As in a theater, you know the play, but not the exact plot – for example, when people imitate their pets' symptoms or cats slip under blankets. Since animals can't speak, their humans do the talking – the core of this book. If animals could say for themselves where it hurts, these stories wouldn't exist. Then we wouldn't know about the Labrador whose stomach was discovered to be the cause of a marital dispute. Kaufmann's stories are also about letting go: When an animal dies, deeply emotional moments arise.

Parasitic Infections of Domestic Animals
The book Parasitic Infections of Domestic Animals provides an overview of the most important parasitic diseases in pets. It deals with the different types of parasites, their life cycles, symptoms, diagnostic options and strategies for prevention and treatment. It thus serves as a practical reference work for veterinarians, students and pet owners.

Me and my projects
I am a veterinarian, author, and project leader – with heart, experience, and an unrelenting curiosity. After 40 years of professional experience in various fields – from private practice and a bush clinic in Africa, to the university, diplomacy in Washington, and heading the national funding agency for innovation – I am now once again working as a practicing veterinarian and serve as president of a non-profit animal welfare organization.
From 1987 to 1990, I worked in Gambia, West Africa. Today, I apply my knowledge and skills there to establish a capacity-building surgical course in a region that previously had no access to such care. Whether in practice, in animal welfare, or in Africa – my driving force has always remained the same: the well-being of animals and the joy of sharing knowledge.
